Tokyo to Matsumoto
Day 1
Japan Motorcycle tour ninjatours tokyo matsumoto parking area with R1250 BMW
As you leave Tokyo in your rear view mirror your route will travel along the Chuo expressway passing by Mt.Fuji (stop for a photo )and continue onwards towards Nagano and Lake Suwa. Leaving the expressway behind at Suwa you are heading for the hills and up to Mt Kirigamine.

Stop for a quick coffee at Kirigamine Rest area before turning onto the famous Venus Line heading towards Tabira Pass and on to Utsukushigarhara rest area which is at 2000m and offers great views, good coffee and ice cream. Continue on along the Venus Line and turn onto the Utsukushigahara Skyline which is a fun narrow winding mountain road heading to Misuzu Lake.

From Misuzu Lake, the route continues down hill towards Matsumoto. Stop for some brief sightseeing and photos at Matsumoto Castle before continuing on to your Ryokan Hotel which is about 10 minutes riding from the castle

Day 2
Matsumoto to Kusatsu
Leaving your hotel in Matsumoto you will drive into the mountains and along an alternate section of the Venus Line which winds its way through the forest.

From here the route continues down Venus Line to Mt Miune and Kirigame past Yamatakahara ski fields before continuing along as series of easy cruising windy roads following the Tokorozawa river, past Yunomaru ski area and Tashiro lake before arriving Kusatsu Onsen.

The roads are open with good surface and flow nicely through the mountains which makes for a varied and enjoyable days riding and while Total Distance is only a little over 190km it will probably take 4.5 hrs actual riding time.

Kusatsu to Tokyo
Day 3

Your ride back to Tokyo will take you down the Asama Shirane Shiga Hwy. and past Onioshidana Volcanic park to Karuizawa, which is a popular retreat from Tokyo with many great places to stop and take a break.

Leaving Karuizawa in the mirror continue along Nakasendo road and enjoy the last of the twisty mountain roads of your trip Stop at Lake Usui for some photos before carrying on along the river valley, lots of Coffee shops etc along this route, to Matsuida-Myogi IC where you will join the Expressway back to Tokyo.

Total Distance today is approx. 220km and it will take 3.5-4hrs riding time.
