Tokyo to Tokushima via ferry
Day 1
Meet us in our Tokyo office for an afternoon briefing and departure preparations, hit the 'Start' button on your completely pre-programmed navigation unit, and then head out to the Ferry Terminal in Tokyo Bay. Grab some snacks and dinner supplies on the way to the ferry terminal and arrive to check in for the overnight trip by about 18:00. Ferry Loading will start about 18:30 and the Ferry will depart Tokyo Terminal at about 19:30. Enjoy a beautiful sunset and get some rest- you are going to need it!

If you are curious, there are observation rooms, and a dining room filled with vending machines selling a wide variety of foods that you may have never seen before in your life.

Day 2
Tokushima to Shikoku - Iya Onsen

Your ferry arrives at Tokushima Terminal around 13:30. Leave the ferry terminal and head straight for the mountains. 10-15 minutes after leaving the ferry terminal you are right into the fun stuff on your ride up to Iya valley.

What starts out as an easy cruise up lower valleys along the Anabuki river, winds up into some spectacular scenery around Mt Tsurugi. The road is great fun, although a little tight and narrow in places, and the view on a nice day is outstanding.

From Mt. Tsurugi you carry on to Oku-Iya Nijo Kazurabashi vine bridge, which is an interesting place for a brief stop over and some photos. Continue along the winding roads in the scenic Iya valley, past the Negoro Scarecrow Village and on to your hotel overlooking the beautiful Iya Valley. The private onsen pools are great as is the scenery.

Iya Valley to Nakatsu Valley
Day 3
A fun day riding in the mountains awaits you today. While the distance is not great, it is a really nice ride which may challenge you a little and will take most of the day.. (A less challenging route is also available if required) Leave your hotel and head along the Nishi Iyama line and continue along the Yoshino river to Tosa Sameura for a quick coffee break.
Past the Sameura Dam the road follows along the Yoshino River valley.

From there the course continues past Nagasawa dam then onwards to Otabi falls and the strategically located cafe at Tsuchiya Terrace, you will have earned a coffee break by now. Time permitting take a look at the Temple on the hill opposite the cafe to admire the view. Continue along the Ishizuchi Skyline, a very twisty scenic ride, which runs along the edge of the valley towards Omogo Gorge. It’s a spectacular ride.

Follow the Omogo River Valley and then continue along sone easy cruising country roads with great scenery and a couple of nice cafes along the way towards your hotel on the river side in Nakatsu Gorge.

Total distance today is about 230km and it will take about 5.5-6hrs of riding time Location is great.

Day 4
Nakatsu Valley to Ashizuri Misaki

The day starts with an easy cruise along the Niyodo Valley and then onto Jiyoshi pass and along mountain top road to Shikoku Karst. You will absolutely want to stop for photos along here as you head towards Tenga Highlands where you can take a well earned coffee break. The winding roads continue down the Forest Line and on past Hakuryu Lake.

Another short section of narrow winding road road follows, it’s narrow but the road surface is good and the scenery is great. Past Sagawa Bridge and along the beautiful Shimanto river to Shimanto Towa rest station for a rest break. An easy cruise along the river side follows along with crossing over the Iwama Submersible bridge, just to get your attention, continue on to Tosashimizu.

From there it’s a nice ride along the coast to your hotel in Ashizuri Misaki.

Ashizuri Misaki to Uchiko
Day 5

The day starts with a nice ride down the Ashizuri Skyline, and on along the Tatsukushi coast to the Road Station Mejia no Sato for your first rest stop. The Coastal route continues to Sukumo and then diverts to some mountain scenery past the Sakamoto dam and Idel Potholes.

A short run along the expressway will take you past Ozu town and then onto todays accommodations the village of Uchiko or follow the more adventurous rural route along the Hijikawa river which will add some more color and about 50 minutes to your ride today.

Day 6
Uchiko to Onomichi
Easy riding today starts with cruising country roads, avoiding Matsuyama city on along past Dogo Onsen and Tamagawa Lake to Imabari Castle. The castle is very impressive having been restored some years ago and is well worth a look and some photos.

Leaving Imabari the route follows along Shimanami Kaido (expressway) which links a series of islands and crosses the inland sea to Onomichi.

Stop for coffee and some sight seeing before continuing on to your harbor side hotel in Onomichi.

Day 7

Some memorable riding today through rural Japan today, Nice easy cruising thru some nice country roads and villages as you cross the main island heading towards Mt. Daisen and the Sea of Japan.

The ride along the Yo river valley and the Yubara Okutsu line heading to Okutsu valley is great as is Okutsu valley. Take a coffee break at Okutsu Road Station. Then continue along the scenic mountain route to today’s accommodations along side the river at Misasa Onsen.

It’s a memorable days riding you are sure to enjoy.

Day 8
Misasa Onsen to Amanohashidate
Leaving Misasa Onsen today enjoy the scenic ride towards Lake Koyama and on to Tottori Sand dunes for a brief sight seeing and rest stop before continuing along the Sea of Japan coastal route towards Kinosaki onsen. Continuing onward to Ine, a village famous for its boathouses and scenery.

You will pass through many small towns and some great photo spots along the coastal route today and arrive at your hotel in Amanohashidate where there there is some great sightseeing to be enjoyed time permitting.

The riding is fun the roads are good with some tricky parts along the way and the scenery is great.

Amanohashidate to Awara Onsen
Day 9
Japan Motorcycle Tour Ninjatours Toba Ise Jingu Shrine
Prior to departure today, time permitting, a brief ride up the cable car will give some great photo chances of Amanohashidate and Maizuru.

Today you are heading for Mitakogoko (Five Lakes) and your course winds thru mountains and valleys giving you some great views of the area. Stop for a coffee before heading onwards along the coastline road to Echizen and your hotel in Awara Onsen.

It’s a relaxed days riding with lots of photo spots and things to see.

Day 10
Arawa Onsen to Shiogawa Onsen
Today has something for everyone, start with a ride through low mountain terrain to Yamanaka onsen followed by a cruise along the coastal highway to Kanazawa. Ride past Kanazawa castle and continue on towards Oyabegawa Dam.

The road is narrow and twisty in parts as you wind through small towns and villages but the surface is good and it’s a fun ride. Continue on to Ainokura Gassho Kukuri Village, wander thru the famous historic village and take a rest break.

Continue on along the Sho River valley on a fun twisty riding road to Shogawa Yuran and then continue on to your Ryokan by the river at Shiogawa Onsen.

Shiokawa Onsen to Kiso
Day 11

Yesterdays winding roads continue for the first couple of hours today and there is some spectacular scenery en route as you head to Shin-hotaka ropeway for some sightseeing and a lunch break.

Refreshed you will head towards Takayama and then continue on past Mt Ontake to your Ryokan in the Kiso mountains.

Many memorable things on your ride today and you are sure to enjoy it a lot.

Day 12
Kiso to Mt. Fuji
More twisty roads await right from the get go today and as you head along Odaira Toge, which is a fun start to the day but an easier option is available. Continue along Koshibu river and onward to Bungui Toge pass, a short twisty mountain pass, and Miwa Lake where you can take a well earned rest stop at Southern Alps Village.

Next stop is Tsutsuki Pass Cafe which is worth a brief stop over for the view. The road winds down the mountain and onto the expressway which heads for Mt. Fuji. Exit the expressway at Ichinomiya Misaki and head for Misaka Pass a twisty road which leads you up to a cafe with an outstanding view of Mount Fuji.

The road winds its way down the mountain and on to your Ryokan accommodation for tonight which also has great view of Mt. Fuji.

Day 13

Sadly this is your last day but still a nice ride awaits you today.


Leaving your hotel you will ride along the shoreline of Lake Yamanaka where there are some great viewing spots of Mt Fuji across the lake. Continue along the riverside to Doshi Road Station and then onto Lake Sagamiko and the Expressway entrance which will bring you back into Tokyo and off offices.


The distance is approx. 150km and it will take about 4 hrs.
