If you are an experienced rider looking for more of a challenge, you've come to the right place! There is a fair amount of technical riding required, so stay focused and enjoy the intensity!

We can adjust the difficulty of the ride based on your desired level, so please let us know if you want a slightly more merciful course!

Day 1
Tokyo to Mt. Fuji
Leave our offices in Tokyo and ride out out along the Tomei Expressway, stop for a quick coffee at Ebina Service area before continuing along the Expressway. After exiting the route continues to the Mazda Turnpike entrance at Odawara and up to Hakone and Lake Ashinoko for a brief stop and some photos.

Leaving Hakone you will ride along the Ashinoko Skyline which winds along the mountain tops giving great views of Mt. Fuji, Lake Ashi and Hakone. Follow the Skyline to Gotemba and on along the northern slopes of Mt. Fuji and Lake Yamanaka. Time permitting ride up the Fuji Subaru line to the highest accessible viewing spots for some great photos before continuing on your hotel in Fuji Lakes area.

Total distance is approx. 250km and it will take about 4.5-5 hrs of riding.

Day 2
Mt. Fuji to Gero Onsen
Ninjatours Japan motorcycle tour Gero Onsen Gassho traditional house
As you leave Mt Fuji and the Mountain lakes this morning the road will wind its way up into mountain giving you some great farewell views of Fuji. A quick run down the highway past Lake Suwa and on to Ina will have you into the Kiso Mountain area and some fun roads.

Just to add a little spice to your ride, my favorite route is along the old Ohira Hwy which is a fun very twisty winding road through the mountains, Alternate option available, and onto TsumagoJuku a working historic village tucked in the Kiso mountains. You can easily spend an hour or so wandering around here.

From Tsumagojuku it is an easy 1 hour cruise along country roads to your hotel.

Day 3
Gero Onsen to Matsumoto
Japan motorcycle tour Gero Onsen countryside trees
Some of my favorite cruising roads await today as the route winds it way past Mt.Ontake and into the Southern Alps to towards Takayama. Scenery is great in almost any season and the roads are fun without being overly taxing.

Takayama is another famous Onsen town very popular for the Old Town area which is well worth a visit. Leaving Takayama you will be heading back into mountains, the roads are a fun ride and scenery very good. Continue on past the Famous Kami Kochi national park riding some great winding riverside roads towards Matsumoto.

Stop at Matsumoto Castle for some more sightseeing before heading to your Ryokan for the nights.

Day 4
Matsumoto to Kusatsu
Leaving your hotel in Matsumoto you will follow the Azalea Line, a scenic valley road before diverting off into the Utsukushigahara Highlands to Tobira Pass.

Cross over the Venus Line and onto the Matsumoto Wakada Line, continuing along as series of easy cruising windy roads following a river, past Yunomaru ski area and Tashiro lake before arriving at Kusatsu.

The roads are open with good surface and flow nicely through the mountains which makes for a varied and enjoyable day of riding. While the total distance is only a little over 190km, it will probably take 4.5 hrs of actual riding time.

Day 5
Kusatsu to Matsunoyama
Ninjatours Japan motorcycle tour Matsunoyama Kusatsu twisty road windy road
Kusatsu is a popular hot springs resort with a long history and is a popular winter resort with nice atmosphere. As you leave with this in your rear mirror, you will skirt Mt. Shirane, an active volcano, cruising past Manza Onsen and ski fields and along the mountain top road towards Shiga Kogen, which is a series of famous Ski Resorts.

Stop at the Yokoteyama rest stop for some great scenery and a view of where your course will take you. Shortly after this the “intense option” of today's course diverts off towards Ichinose, or proceed along the regular course, making a stop to see the famous Jigokudani snow monkeys if you are inclined. You will enjoy the road which winds down the mountain and offers some nice over views of Nagano.

After leaving Nozawa Onsen, the road winds into the mountains again for a brief period on some steep, twisty roads, then onwards to your evening mountain accommodations in Matsunoyama Onsen, a famous mountain hot spring town.

Distance is approx. 220km. But again it will probably take most of the day.

Day 6
Matsunoyama to Yunohama
Start off the day with a fun windy mountain road ride before hopping onto the Expressway to bypass the traffic around the city of Niigata. Exiting the expressway, today's “intense option”, which diverts off into mountains here along Asahi Super Line, can be a very challenging ride, or continue on one of my favorite seaside rides along the Sea of Japan.

Nothing tricky or technical involved - this is just a very nice cruisy road along the sea side. Nice restaurants and coffee shops photo spots etc along the way to your seaside hotel at Yunohama Onsen. Enjoy a wander along the beach and catch the sunset.

Distance Approx. 250km, 4.5hrs Riding. Enjoy the rest tonight some big rides await.

Day 7
Yunohama to Hachimantai
Ninjatours Japan motorcycle tour Hachimantai forest ride shady road on BMW RS1200
Back on the road today, you briefly follow the coastline before turning inland to Mt Choukai. The road winds through lush green forests and on up the slopes of Mt Choukai. It's a spectacular way to start your day and the view is equally wonderful. Stop at the top, grab a quick coffee and proceed down the other side of the mountain.

The scenery briefly changes to rice fields before the lush forest and twisting roads begin in earnest as you continue along the Chokai Blue line. The atmosphere and the views are great as are the roads. As you move back to lower altitudes the roads flatten out to easy cruising again and you proceed towards Lake Tazawa, which is a hidden gem tucked in the mountains.

Take a ride around the lake, stop for a snack, and you are back on the road heading for the famous Hachimandaira Aspite line. It's a great ride and takes you to your hotel high on the mountain. I promise you will sleep well tonight.

Total Distance about 320km and it will take 5.05-6.0hrs riding or more.

Day 8
Hachimantai to Naruko Onsen
If you enjoyed the ride along Aspite Line yesterday, feel free to backtrack along there again today. It will blend into today's route to Naruko and Ginzan. Alternatively, take a brief run down the expressways for great views of Mt. Iwate, before exiting to Lake Gosho and an easy cruise along the Waga River valley - Rural Japan as it really is.

Stop at the way pointed coffee shop for coffee or homemade ice cream. Your route continues following the Minase river for a period as it begins to climb higher, roads are winding but easy. My favorite coffee shop will appear after an hour and a half or so and its well worth a stop here. The road climbs and winds its way through Yunohama Pass, easy riding but it's a cool road with some great views before arriving at Hanayama Lake. Shortly after you will veer of toward Naruko Onsen and Ginzan Onsen, both of which a lovely places to stay.

Total Distance today is just under 300km and is about 5.5 hrs riding time.

A BIG day awaits. Lots of twisty winding roads again today. Begin with a quiet cruise through rural Yamagata and take a brief expressway stretch before heading into the mountains to Zao Onsen Ski resort. Wind you way into the mountains and along the famous Zao Echo line a lushly wooded ride on excellent twisty roads with lots of scenery.

As you continue onward to Nishi Azuma Sky Valley, the road climbs once again as it winds past Shirabe Onsen and Mt Nishi Agatsuma and onwards to Lake Hibara. The road is very twisty, but surface and scenery is great. You will enjoy a brief rest with coffee at the strategically placed Monterey Cafe before forging on to your hotel which sit at top the Azuma Bandai Skyline. Another awesome road, twisting and tricky but surface and views are outstanding. Enjoy the great view and ambience of your mountain hotel, you will sleep well again tonight.

Distance Approx 290km. Riding time 5-6hrs.
