Yes, it’s a ferry transit trip and not a luxury cruise, but certainly interesting.

Enjoy a beautiful sunset and get some rest- you are going to need it!

If you are curious, there are observation rooms, and a dining room filled with vending machines selling a wide variety of foods both familiar and wildly unusual.
You have your own private room on the ferry to freshen up and get a good night's rest.

There are gender separate communal baths, and private showers as well.

Day 2
Tokushima to Iya Valley
Stacks Image 8477
Your ferry arrives at Tokushima around 13:30. From there, you will ride up to Iya valley through the heart of mountain ranges.

What starts out as any easy cruise up some lower valleys along the Anabuki river, winds up into some spectacular scenery around Mt Tsurugi.
The road is great fun, although a little narrow in places, and the view on a nice day is outstanding.

From Mt. Tsurugi you carry on to Oku-Iya Nijo Kazurabashi vine bridge, which is an interesting place for a brief stop and some photos.

Day 3

A day riding in the mountains- the distance is not great, but it is a really fun ride. (A less challenging route is also available if required)

Leave your hotel and head up through Kyoubashira toge pass and on to the road station at Tosa Sameura for a quick snack before heading up past the Sameura Dam and the fun road which follows along the Yoshino River valley. It’s a fun scenic ride.

Take a brief photo stop over at Nikobuchi- a stunning sacred and beautifully pure pool and waterfall.
From there on the course follows past Nagasawa dam then onwards to Otabi falls and the strategically located cafe at Tsuchiya Terrace.

This is one of my favorite mountain roads. Continue along the Ishizuchi Skyline, a very twisty scenic ride, which runs along the edge of the valley towards Omogo Gorge. It’s a spectacular ride on a nice day!
Follow the Omogo River Valley down to the junction and onto a fun winding road to Kuromori Pass which will lead you to your hotel in Dogo Onsen, a famous hot spring resort town set in the mountains of Ehime.

Total distance today is about 240km and it will take about 6hrs of riding time

Continue along the Shimanami Kaido which links an island chain running across the Inland Sea (Setanaikai). The scenic ocean views continue as you ride onward to your destination in Hiroshima.

Depending upon the route taken, it should take about 3 to 3.5 hrs of riding time, which will allow for an afternoon of sightseeing around Hiroshima. Total distance is approx. 220km.
